Situation

Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., provides complete electrical, engineering and automation solutions—along with the right products, software and services—to its clients worldwide. The company needed a sales tool to demonstrate the breadth of its product lines (over 300 unique products) to prospective customers. The products and services spanned multiple product lines and sales forces. Siemens wanted its customers to receive a consistent, accurate sales and marketing message.

Solution

n-tara interactive developed a web-delivered, interactive plant site for Siemens sales staff and Siemens customers in order to allow them to build their own plant, complete with power distribution; automation and control; instrumentation and analysis; and IT and software solutions and services. With a click of a button, customers can access information and web links that pertain to offerings relative to their business or industry. In addition, the tool is used for internal training of sales staff as well as for presentations to existing and potential customers.

Success

As a result of this web portal, Siemens’ cross-selling and total-solution selling has dramatically increased. The solution is multi-purposed for use as a sales tool, marketing demo and for product training, and the project platform was inexpensively re-purposed for other solution lines.
