Situation
Marquee Mountain South magazine is the publication for arts, food, music, people, places and active lifestyles of the Mountain South, a region encompassing Northeast Tennessee, Western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. With gorgeous photography and engaging lifestyle articles, the magazine is both an information source and coffee-table staple. Lacking, however, was an online translation of the magazine’s rich content as well as a forum for readers to engage with the brand. With a limited budget and a short development timeframe, Marquee Mountain South magazine needed a new web presence that was easily manageable and easy to update.
Solution
Taking a highly strategic approach for long-term growth, n-tara interactive created an easy-to- update custom blog design and website that was user friendly and represented the Marquee brand online. The new website promotes new issues and content up front and gives users the opportunity to sample the magazine, while the blog format creates a participatory environment that generates discussions and feedback on articles and postings. A deliberate and in-depth search engine optimization strategy ensures search-friendly content. And the CMS allows the Marquee staff, with limited time, to manage content easily. n-tara interactive chose the website/blog format to allow the client to make updates (every issue requires a change-out of online content) and to engage readers in a dialogue about the magazine's content.
Success
An overwhelming success for the client and its readers, the website is serving to drive subscriptions and awareness of the new brand (the magazine was called Marquee, but a recent brand update changed the name to Marquee Mountain South to better reflect its content). Site traffic has increased substantially.
